Do an Inmate Search

The booking process and procedures can be time-consuming. Before you can do anything, you will need to know that the person is booked at Boston Jail. You can easily search for an inmate in Boston by using the online database lookup tool, here.

Type in the inmate’s first and last name and date of birth to complete the search. To view the inmate’s booking number, mugshots, and bond information, click on the inmate’s name.

Write down all information such as booking #, permanent ID #, and the police county ID as you will need it later.

Bail and Bonding

Because the Boston Jail is the first housing facility for those arrested, many offenders will be bailed out of jail within the first few days.

If you wish to bail someone out of jail, you will need to know the bail amount as well as contact the jail to find out further information on bailing an inmate out of jail.

Sending Mail

Telephone Questions

Inmates are able to make collect phone calls to friends and family. However, collect calls cannot be made to cell phones. So, Boston Jail partners with Connect Network to make talking to inmates easier for friends and family.

By using Connect Network, you can set up a prepaid account so inmates can call you without collect charges. You can set up an account online, or you can call 800-483-8314.

Visitation

If an inmate is staying for a longer period of time at the Boston Jail, you will be able to schedule visits to see them. You must be 18 or older with a valid form of ID.

If you would like to schedule a visit with an inmate, you can click here or call 617-343-4200. Keep in mind that visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance, but you can not schedule more than 7-days in advance.

Please keep in mind that visitation and phone calls are privileges and occasionally an inmate will not be permitted to have these privileges due to disciplinary procedures.

If you have any issues or concerns about the jail or an inmate, you can contact the jail directly.
