Stay in Contact and Support and Inmate

Staying in contact with a friend or loved one is a great way to show your support. It is also scientifically proven to help inmates to be rehabilitated and stay out of jail in the future.

Although staying in contact with an offender is a great way to help them through this tough time in their life, it is important that only positive friends and family members keep in contact. Therefore, the jail does have strict guidelines on who can keep in touch.

Talk to an inmate on the phone: Inmates at Norfolk County Community Correctional Center are not permitted to have incoming phone calls. In fact, they can not even locate phone numbers. So, if you do not know if an inmate has your number, it is best to write your number on a letter that is mailed to them. Inmates are allowed to make outgoing collect phone calls. This means you will be responsible for the fee.

Send mail or letters: The best form of communication with an inmate is to send them a letter. Inmates look forward to getting mail daily and weekly. However, it is imperative that the correct information is written on the envelope to ensure the inmate gets what you send. Here is an example:

Items such as additional hygiene products, books, envelopes, paper, pens, stamps, tablets (no internet), shoes, clothes, and snacks can be purchased at a store inside of the jail called commissary. In order for inmates to purchase these items, they must have funds in their account.
