Established in 1982, Walla Walla County Jail is a 44-bed correctional facility serving the Walla Walla and College Place Police Departments and the Sheriff’s Office. It’s a medium security county jail whose main responsibility is being a holding facility. Hence it holds up to 100 offenders each day as they await their court hearing, sentencing, bond or bail settlement, or transfer to a federal or state prison. While here, the offenders undergo several alternative programs that include partial confinement and electronic monitoring. Likewise, inmates get to work on the jail’s work crew or as a trustee. Upon completion, the offenders will have earned ‘good time’ that counts in reducing their jail time. The county jail employs 21 jail staff and a cook to oversee the inmate population.

Inmate Commissary
Inmates need cash to buy food, snacks, electronics, toiletries, and other personal items currently not provided by the jail. Further, the inmate may need to post cash bail at the court. Hence, the offenders at Walla Walla County jail may accept money from the public during the booking process. These funds shall be credited to their commissary accounts, allowing them to purchase items from the jail commissary. Further, the commissary account acts as a safe keep for inmate funds and a means to getting additional funds from their friends and loved ones. Here, anyone may deposit funds to the inmate’s commissary account at any of the kiosk machines in the jail lobby. Upon release, the inmates can withdraw the balance in their commissary account and pick it up from the jail during regular business hours.

The county jail allows inmates to make outgoing calls to their friends and family members. These are collect calls charged $1.95 per 15-minute session. Anyone who wishes to receive these calls should notify the Department and have their landline number verified. Then, the call recipient will decide whether to pick the call or not.

Visitation Guidelines
If you have a friend or loved one held at the Walla Walla County Jail, you may visit them on Thursdays to Sundays from 9.30 am to 11.00 am and 1.00 pm to 4.00 pm. On the scheduled visiting day, you have to produce a photo ID to confirm that you are 18 years or older. Minor has to be in the company of their parents or legal guardians. Note that if the offender is on active supervision, they cannot get visitors.
Next, if you reside far or are not available to visit the offender in person, the county jail allows inmate video visitations. Here, the Department of Corrections contracts Securus to provide remote or on-site video visits. Then, start by creating a Securus Online Account at the vendor’s official website. Then, add funds to your account to facilitate the enrolling, scheduling, and communication via Video Connect App.
