The Navarro County Jail resides in Corsicana, Texas. The jail is overseen and managed by the Navarro County Sheriff’s Office to service the Navarro County community. Currently, this facility includes five dispatchers, seven deputies, two financial clerks, and one administrator. The facility also includes two qualified supervisors.

Any offenders will be placed within the Navarro County Jail if they have committed crimes within the respective County, namely Navarro County. If a Navarro County Jail inmate receives less than a 24-month sentence, they are sent to state.

Even though the Navarro County Sheriff’s Office has been active since 1846, the Navarro County Justice Center was not completed until 1988. This cost a total of $6 million. The original capacity allowed for the jail to hold 162 inmates. As of 1996, the current capacity has reached 290 inmates, ensuring that the jail provides safe and non-crowded conditions.

As a working County jail, the Navarro County Jail meets the Texas jail standards as described by the Texas Commission.

Inmate Correspondence

Inmates are permitted correspondence with friends, loved ones, and attorneys. To ensure the community and inmates’ safety, the Navarro County Jail has placed certain stipulations and standards on inmate correspondence. Below are descriptions of standards-based on different forms of correspondence.

Sending Mail or a Care Package

The Navarro County Jail permits you to send letters to inmates within the jail. Inmates are allowed to send letters back. Any letters sent must be the size of a standard letter envelope or smaller. Books are not allowed to be mailed into the jail unless they are mailed from a publisher and have a soft covering.

The only items permitted to be sent in the mail are three or less unframed photographs. These photographs must be small enough to fit inside a regular size standard letter envelope. At any one time, inmates are only allowed three unframed photographs.

Mail must not contain contraband, which includes suggestive, nude, and hardback photos. Additionally, cards, envelopes, Internet printouts, and stamps are considered contraband and cannot be sent to an inmate. Any mail considered contraband will be sent back to the post office.

So that inmates can send letters back, they are permitted to purchase writing supplies from the inmate commissary. This includes paper, pens, envelopes, and stamps.

If you have any other questions, concerns, or statements about what you can or cannot send to an inmate within the Navarro County Jail, contact the Sheriff Department for further clarification.

Phone Services

Upon booking, inmates are allowed three free local calls. Many cell phones do not count as local. The purpose of these phone calls is to allow inmates to arrange bail, contact family members, or talk to an attorney after booking. All calls are subjected to recording and monitoring.

After an inmate has reached the population, they may only collect calls between the hours of 8:00 AM and 10:00 PM, Monday through Friday. On weekends, they may collect calls between 8:00 AM and 11:00 PM. If the inmate has not purchased phone time, you are responsible for the collect call fee.

Officers are not permitted to pass messages to any inmates, whether the message be written or verbal. You must pass correspondence on via mail or direct phone service.

You can call the NCIC Customer Service line at 1-800-843-2189 to set up a prepaid account or get more information by talking to one of our customer service representatives.

Visitation

The Navarro County Detention Center permits visitation between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM, and 6:00 PM and 10:00 PM, seven days a week. Inmates housed in population are permitted to receive two visits per week for 30 minutes each. For inmates housed in holding cells, they are permitted 3 visits per week for 30 minutes each within the cells.

Before visitation, it is recommended to call the jail ahead of time. This ensures that you arrive on the correct day and that the inmate has not already maxed out their visitations for the week.

During visitation, cell phones are prohibited. With the exception of attorney visits, visits will be monitored and recorded. Any person under 17 years of age must be accompanied by a legal guardian during the visit. No matter the age, a valid state or government identification is required to enter.

To ensure the safety of all Navarro County Jail visitors and inmates, visitors must follow a dress code. Shoes and shirts must be worn during the entire visitation. Prohibited tops include sleeveless shirts, spaghetti straps, tank tops, and tube tops. Short shorts and miniskirts are prohibited as well. Clothing must not include any explicit, derogatory, or profane language.

To find out more about what is prohibited during visitation, contact the Navarro County Sheriff’s Office.

Attorney Visitation

The Navarro County Detention Center allows attorneys to visit their clients. Any attorney visits can be conducted either face to face or via video visitation. Other accommodations must be authorized by the jail administration. For access, attorneys must bring a valid government identification card and an up-to-date Bar Card.

Attorneys are prohibited from visiting clients between the hours of 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM daily. These are inmate feeding times.
