The reach this end, the Comanche County Detention Center provides multiple programs for its inmates to help them lead more fulfilling lives. These include faith-based programs, educational opportunities, substance abuse programs, and limited work-release.

Visitation

If you would like to visit a friend or a family member who has been incarcerated at the Comanche County Detention Center, you must follow all of the proper rules. If any violation of the rules is detected, or if the prison staff has any reason to believe that their safety, your safety, or the safety of the inmate is being threatened, your visit will be immediately ended.

Currently, visitation has been temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19 epidemic. This was not a trivial decision, but as the primary goal of the detention center is to provide safety for its inmates and the community, visitation is no longer in-person.

Online visits are available. To schedule a virtual visit with an inmate, you must register with www.prodigysales.com and the inmate in question must have funds in their account. Any questions about this service can be directed to Lieutenant Walls (580) 250-1902 (extension 108).

In most cases, only prisoners in the general population are allowed visitors. Inmates located in special housing are receiving disciplinary action and are therefore no longer afforded the privilege of visitation.

It is a felony to bring or possess contraband within a correctional facility.

Dress Code

When visiting an inmate, it is essential that you follow the dress code. The following items of clothing are banned:

  • Low-cut tops
  • Form-fitting clothing
  • Red, blue, gray, or orange shirts
  • Tank tops
  • Tube tops
  • Non-religious headgear
  • Clothing with graphic, provocative, offensive, or otherwise unacceptable graphics
  • Transparent or mesh clothing
  • Legwear that is above the kneecap

If you are unsure if an outfit is acceptable, it is best to change into something else. A good rule of thumb is to dress like you are meeting someone’s grandmother for the very first time and you want to make a good impression.

Medication for Inmates

Inmates that are prescribed medication must keep it in the original container from the pharmacy with the label intact. If you need to drop off medication for an inmate, you can do so at the detention center. Please note that all medication that goes into the correctional facility must be current. The inmate’s name must be on the label, and the dates must be accurate. In addition, no medication that has been mixed with other medications in the bottle will be accepted. For further information, please call (580) 250-1902.
