Situated at 109 S Maple Street in Graham, NC, Alamance County Detention Center is medium-security detention. The jail is home to adult male inmates exceeding 18 years, convicted of crimes under North Carolina State law. The institution also holds inmates facing trial or awaiting sentencing. Most of the inmates sentenced and serving in this facility are here for two years or less. They’re here for crimes that are serious in nature. The jail is under the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office’s management and accepts inmates from the US Marshal’s Service, the Graham Police Department, and surrounding municipalities and towns.

New detainees are delivered to the jail every day. Some put up bail and get released, while others are released due to pretrial services caseload. Some detainees are placed under the supervision of a probation agency, while others are released on an agreement that they will appear in court. If they don’t get a release, the inmate is held back in jail as a guest of the county, gets a bed and three square meals a day until their court appearance. The facility also has trustees who are inmates that work in the jail as cooks. They may be paid small amounts for their time or awarded a few days off their sentence. Inmates are put together in a large holding cell immediately after they arrive in jail. Violent inmates get segregated, and all inmates are put under heightened observation.

However, if your inmate has answered to charges leveled against them but not yet convicted, chances are they will be in this detention center.

Inmate Phone Service

Many jails and prisons in the US are reducing the time an inmate gets to use the phone by limiting daily and monthly calls. So, when calling an inmate in this facility. Pace yourself and try not to exhaust all your time before the month is halfway. If the inmate fails to call on scheduled time, don’t panic. For instance, there could be an event such as a lockdown after a fight or long lines of other inmates using the phone.

Your name needs to be on the approved calling list of the inmate for you to receive calls from one at the Alamance County Detention Center. All calls are monitored for security reasons and are set at a specific time to allow inmates to talk to their loved ones. Phone calls are the only way inmates get to hear the voice of their families. Avoid arguing with the inmate at all costs.

When it comes to visitation hours, visits are only allowed from 9 am to 6 pm from Monday to Friday. All visits are conducted via a glass partition. The facility may also have a video visitation option.
