The East Carroll Riverbend Detention Center is a county jail, holding prisoners who have suffered small misdemeanors and have sentences of less than three years. The East Carroll Riverbend Detention Center helps to not only keep the community safe, but also work on rehabilitating prisoners and giving them the resources they need. It’s a win-win where the safety of the surrounding area and the rights of the prisoners are well respected.

The Detention Center holds two purposes for the County. The first is to hold the low-level and misdemeanor offenders for the duration of their sentences, while the second purpose is to contain the higher-level perpetrators until they go to their trials for the crimes they committed.

Once an inmate is convicted, they will either be sent to a local or federal prison if they must serve a crime over one year. If their crime has a sentence of less than one year, they serve their time inside of the jail.

However, if a friend or loved one has been arrested in East Carroll Louisiana, then you will need to search for them inside the Detention Center system.

Looking At The Inmate List

To figure out if the person you are looking for is inside the East Carroll Riverbend Detention Center, you will need to search for them. There are several ways to conduct a good inmate search, with the first being the sheriff’s website. Sheriff Wydette Williams has been in the office of East Carroll Sheriff since 2012, and his website has a search for sex offenders in the area.

For non sex offender related searches, you can look on the VINE (Victim Information and Notification Everyday) website, and the Louisana Department of Corrections Website.

For all of these websites, you will need a few things. First, you need the name of the inmate you are trying to find. First names are genuinely less valuable than last names, although if you have a full name it can really help.

Once you have found the inmate, you will be able to write down any information. The most important is the booking number, which will let you keep in contact with the intimate while they are inside the facility.

Posting Bonds

Due to the East Carroll Riverbed Center being a county jail, most inmates are allowed to have their bond posted. You can post bonds seven days a week at 24 hours a day, and you need to understand the laws of the state of Louisiana. In order to figure out the bond, you will need to call the center and ask about your specific inmate.

A bail bondsman is very important to have as you go about paying a larger bond. What they do is allow you to pay a certain amount (usually around 10%) to the bondsman, and then they will use your collateral to cover the rest.

Once the bail has been posted, the inmate is let out and asked to appear in court for their sentencing. If they appear in court, for their hearing, the remainder of the bail is forfeited and the bondsman keeps the 10%.

If they do not, then the bond is forfeited and the remaining 90% will need to be paid to the court. This often uses your collateral to pay the remaining fee.

How To Visit Your Inmate

If you can keep some form of contact with your friend or loved one even between bars, then it will make sure that their rehabilitation will go smoothly. You can do this through mail, typical visitation, and by sending them money for the prison commissary.

Sending Money For The Commissary

One of the highlights of an inmate’s day can be their visits to the commissary. It’s a store that can provide them with various items that they can’t find in the jail. These items include books, hygiene products, MP3 players, and snacks. You can put money on their account through various methods, including through various kiosks around the prison. You can attach money to your inmate’s account through the kiosks or by sending them money through the mail.

Once the money gets on their account, they can spend it at the commissary for various items. While it might not be as heartwarming as a real face to face visit, the money can go a long way to making their lives much better inside of the prison.

Mail

You can send inmates mail such as letters, money for the commissary, and photographs. The letters will need to be addressed by using the full name of the prisoner and the address of the East Carroll Riverbend Detention Center.

Additionally, photos cannot contain any contraband or ‘not safe for work content’ and those letters will be disposed of. Additionally, any letters that are not addressed properly, will be disposed of as well.

Visitation

Visitation at the Riverbend Detention Center does have some strict rules for both your safety and the safety of the staff and prisoners. An inmate can have one visit a week with a maximum of three people visiting them. You aren’t allowed to have electronics, matches, bags, food, or tools around the inmate, and will often be separated by a glass partition.

Additionally, you will need to wear proper clothing, which doesn’t include tank tops, low-cut dresses, shorts above knee length, and mini skirts.

Finally, depending on what prisoner you want to visit, the visiting times are different. You will need to keep the changing times in mind.

Visitation Due To Covid-19

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the contact visitation in person is currently suspended. However, non-contact visitation, as well as online visitation, is still allowed. Your inmate can get to and use a video kiosk to communicate with you at home, or you can do a video call on site.

Even though Covid-19 is something that we can’t control, it should not affect the visitation that every single inmate deserves.
