Types of Correctional Facilities in Kansas
Those who are serving their sentence in a Kansas state prison will be overseen by the Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC). Through a centralized inmate database, you can easily search for an offender.
Keep in mind that the KDOC website will only show information for inmates in a federal person. It will not show records for those in county jails, police jails, or city jails in Kansas.

How to do an Inmate Search
You will need to do an inmate search for various reasons including finding which facility the inmate is being held in, to talk to an inmate, or to send money.
You can easily search for an inmate on the Kansas Department of Corrections website. Simply click on the tab, offender search. You must agree to the disclaimer.
You can search for an inmate using their last name, first name, and middle name, or by using their KDOC number.
Once you have found your inmate, be sure to write the information down such as which facility they are in, their KDOC number, and other pertinent information.
How to Talk to an Inmate
An inmate will be able to communicate with the outside world through mail, telephone, or an electronic messaging system.
Inmate Telephone
Inmates will not be allowed to receive telephone calls. However, they will be able to make prepaid or collect phone calls. If you wish for an inmate to contact your cell phone, you will need to set up a prepaid account through CenturyLink or by calling 1-855-698-0010.
Inmate Messaging System
You will be able to get a message to an inmate using the electronic messaging system through Jpay. To register, you must know the inmate's ID number.
How to Send Money to an Inmate
There are two ways you can put money on an inmate's books. The two options are Jpay and Access Secure Deposits.
Jpay: To use Jpay, you must create an account online or by calling 1-800-574-5729. With Jpay, you can send a money order with a deposit coupon or by downloading the free mobile app to your phone.
Access Secure Deposits: To use this method, you will need to create an account online or by phone: 866-345-1884.
