The Pocatello City Jail is a temporary holding facility for inmates before they are added to the Bannock County Jail roster, or moved to another jail. As such, it is smaller than many other jails, but still serves Pocatello and the surrounding area. The Pocatello City Jail is also commonly referred to as the Pocatello Equity Center. It is run by the Pocatello Sheriff’s Office.

Sending Money to Inmates

Loading money into an inmate’s account is easy at Pocatello City Jail. You may store clerk’s checks or cash orders made out to the City of Pocatello, or US cash. Personal checks are prohibited, and will not be accepted. Visiting Inmates

Visits are permitted for inmates not receiving disciplinary action, or during other events that may interfere with a successful visit. Visiting hours are every day from 9:00am to 6:00pm.

All guests are required to bring a valid photo ID with them to their visit. Visitors under 18 must be continuously supervised by an adult. Only three guests at a time are allowed per visit. Prisoners are allowed two separate 1 hours visits each week.

Guests must arrive 15 minutes before their visit to check in. If the inmate you are visiting is in regulatory isolation, you must arrive 30 minutes before your visit.

Items that are prohibited during visits include (but are not limited to): weapons, food, drinks, revealing clothing, obscene material, gifts, or anything else that may threaten the safety of the inmate, visitor, or prison staff.
