Types of Correctional Facilities in Florida

Want to do an inmate search for someone in the Florida Department of Corrections. An FLDOC Inmate can be searched for right on the federal website. However, those who are located in a local jail may find that they need to go to that specific website to lookup an inmate. Looking up an inmate can help you do more things like call, email, or even visit. Keep reading to figure out how to search for an inmate in a FLDOC facility.

How to do an Inmate Search

If you know the inmate you’re looking for is in the Florida Department of Corrections, this is where you need to be. Searching for an inmate is easy with the system. With this website you can:

  • Search all corrections offender databases
  • Inmate Population Information Search
  • Inmate Release Information Search

So, go ahead and look for the inmate you’re searching for. You have every type of search option available to you.

Visiting an Inmate

After you have used the inmate locator, you can start the process of visiting an inmate. The FLDOC is focused on the safety of inmates and visitors, which is why there are strict rules. When you enter the facility as a visitor, you can expect to be patted down and checked for contraband. If you don’t follow the rules, you could actually be subjected to being arrested.

If you see a violation of the FLDOC, it’s important that you report it.

How to Contact an Inmate

While doing a prison search isn’t hard, you may be wondering how you can go about contacting an inmate. If you can’t visit, but still want to communicate with the inmate, this is the place for you to be to look up and find out more information.

In the Florida Federal Prison System, inmates cannot actually get phone calls. Each inmate that enters the prison system in this state is assigned a telephone account.

Before a phone call can be made, the prisoner must submit the name, telephone number, and address.

Writing an Inmate

Any writing that you want to do must be done through the postal system of the United States. The letters can only be in English or Spanish. And all correspondence can only be done in a basic envelope.

If you’d like to email someone in the prison system, you can do so through JPAY. Each email is 39 cents to send. This is a good way to send letters because it cuts down on having to have items searched. You can get all the details on writing an email to a FLDOC inmate here.

Keep in mind that you must follow all rules associated with the Florida Department of Corrections. Rules and regulations are put in place, so that everyone stays safe. If you have any questions, make sure you contact the FLDOC.
