Inmate Phone and Mail Service

All inmates have access to telephones.  While a free phone call may be available when an inmate is admitted, it can only be about the bond or any appearances that might be scheduled.

All inmate conversations are recorded, and the recordings are monitored. The staff can restrict inmate access to phone calls and may also block specific numbers if they feel there might be a security risk.  If a member of the public is having a problem with a prisoner making harassing phone calls, they should report it to the jail office.

Phone calls can be made from the inmate’s cell seven days a week. Calls may be placed from 7:00 am – 10:00 pm.  All calls are collect.  Families may pay for phone time by contacting the telephone company directly. They can be reached by calling 888-729-4326.  Time can also be purchased online.

Prisoners may receive and send mail. All mail is searched before entering or leaving the facility. Inmate mail should be sent to P.O. Box 115, Geneva, AL.

Inmates will not be allowed to keep personal property once they arrive at the facility. Any items in the inmate’s possession will be stored at the jail. Things that can be store are limited to the clothing the inmate is wearing and the items in their pockets when they arrive.  Stored items will be returned upon release or transfered, and if they are not claimed, they will be disposed of.  Family members will be given 72 hours to pick up personal property if their loved one is transferred to a different facility. The only items that may be dropped off for inmates are medications and eyeglasses. These drop-offs must be approved by the medical staff before they will be allowed.

The jail offers a commissary service.  Orders can be placed on a weekly basis. The deadline for commissary orders is Tuesday 10:00 am, and orders will arrive on Thursdays. There are several ways for family members to provide an inmate with money for this service.  An online option is available.  There is also a kiosk in the jail lobby. Finally, money orders may be mailed to the jail if the commander gives advanced approval.
