The best way to find an inmate and be able to stay in contact with them is to do an online inmate search. To do this, you will need to click on the tab at the top of the VDOC homepage that says offender locator.
You then you will click on link to offender locator. You can then search through the inmate list or type in the last name in the upper left-hand corner to search for an inmate.
You will want to write down all pertinent information such as the facility where the inmate is located, the jacket number, and their full name.
How to Stay in Contact with an Inmate
When inmates stay in contact with friends and family, it helps them to adjust better and focus more on rehabilitation. The VDOC allows inmates to contact and communicate with friends and family in several ways.
By Phone: Inmates are allowed to make phone calls to friends and family. However, you will need to set up a debit phone account or a prepaid account. Click the links to sign up.
Visits: If you wish to visit an inmate, you will need to be on the approved visitor list.
Tablet communications: Alternatively, the VDOC allows inmates to use tablets around the facility to have virtual visits, email, and messaging. If you wish to have this provided to an inmate, you will need to sign up for an account with Connect Network.
How to Send Money to an Inmate
Inmates need money in their accounts to get various items. If you would like to get money to an inmate, you will need to properly fill out the deposit coupon with your money order or cashiers check.
