Burnet County Jail Records

The Burnet County Jail has an extensive record system and offender roster. On the official website, there are various ways to gain information on offenders and inmates. The jail provides free access to its court records online. There, you can access the case records, jail records, and law enforcement records.

In order to access any of the Burnet County Jail records, you must use the free username and password. Both fields are “visitor” for anyone who wants free access to the database.

The case records include criminal case records, the Burnet County court calendar, and civil, family & probate case records. You can search up criminal case records by case, defendant, citation, or date filled – as long as you have some information on the case, the rest of the information is available to access. This is also true for any civil, family and probate case records in the Burnet County database. The court calendar is constantly updated and can be filtered by party or defendant name; but you must have a name and date range to access the court calendar online.

The Burnet County jail records database has an inmate search feature as well as jail records and jail bond records. If you know the defendant’s name or the bond company name, you can access their incarceration information, mugshots, offenses, and the time they are serving. The incident records in the law enforcement section are also free to access with the “visitor” username and password.

Website Resources

The Burnet County Jail and Burnet County Sheriff’s Office have several links on their official website for the community’s needs. Burnet County communities can file complaints, request security and vacation watches, and more. Here are a few of the website’s features.

Records Request

The Records Division is in charge of maintaining agency records and all law enforcement files. This division also manages records retention, case distribution, and the destruction schedules for all agency records and case files. They also receive and respond to Open Records requests for the county.

You can request copies of official Burnet County records directly online, but you must fill out the required form. The Open Records Request Form and Crash Report Request Form are both available on the website. Completed and signed forms can either be mailed or delivered by hand, or they can be scanned and uploaded using the online form.

Request a Vacation Watch or Request Off Duty Security

The Burnet County Sheriff’s Office provides watch services and off-duty security services on a request basis. If county residents live in the unincorporated areas of Burnet County, they can request a vacation watch. The Sherriff’s Office will check on the property while the residents are away based on the request’s frequency and property’s security. To request a vacation watch, fill out and submit the online form at least 24 hours before leaving the property for vacation.

The Burnet County Sheriff’s Office also allows secondary employment of law enforcement for off-duty security. Employees that are commissioned Peace Officers can work as independent contracts for off-duty secondary employment as long as it is in accordance with the Sheriff’s Office policies as well as local and state laws. The deputy’s primary off-duty responsibility is enforcing the federal and state laws, to protect life and property, and to keep the peace. Deputies that have a secondary employment off-duty security job will not refuse any county citizen that needs assistance.

Although you can request off-duty security, the Burnet County Sheriff’s Office holds the right to refuse any request to hire deputies. All requests must be approved by the Sherriff’s Office, and individuals that request a deputy must be willing to provide a background check. Any individual, organization, community, or business submitting an off-duty security request application to hire deputies from the Sherriff’s Office will be considered a contractor for the entire duration of the secondary employment.

Receive Emergency Notifications

The Burnet County Jail and Burnet County Sheriff’s Office can provide emergency notifications through Texas’s official website for COVID-19 and emergency-related notifications. Texas residents can register to receive emergency warnings by text, phone call, or email notifications. They can also choose the frequency and category of emergency warnings as needed.
