Stay in Contact and Support and Inmate

Staying in contact with a friend or loved one is a great way to show your support. It is also scientifically proven to help inmates to be rehabilitated and stay out of jail in the future.

Although staying in contact with an offender is a great way to help them through this tough time in their life, it is important that only positive friends and family members keep in contact. Therefore, the jail does have strict guidelines on who can keep in touch.

If you wish to stay in touch with an inmate in Montgomery County Youth Center, here are the ways you can do so:

Talk to an inmate on the phone: Inmates at Montgomery County Youth Center are not permitted to have incoming phone calls. In fact, they can not even locate phone numbers. So, if you do not know if an inmate has your number, it is best to write your number on a letter that is mailed to them. Inmates are allowed to make outgoing collect phone calls. This means you will be responsible for the fee.

Send mail or letters: The best form of communication with an inmate is to send them a letter. Inmates look forward to getting mail daily and weekly. However, it is imperative that the correct information is written on the envelope to ensure the inmate gets what you send. Here is an example:

Visit an Inmate: In order to visit an inmate, you will need to schedule your visitation online. Unfortunately jail clerks will no longer be able to handle this process. Go to the visitation registration online.

From there, you will be redirected to Smartjailmail.com. If you have never visited this inmate, you will need to register for an account. To do this click sign up. You will then be able to send electronic messaging, do a video visitation, or send photos.

How to Send Money to an Inmate

Although all of an inmates basic needs are taken care of by the Montgomery County Youth Center, an inmate may still need extra things during their stay. Items such as additional hygiene products, books, envelopes, paper, pens, stamps, tablets (no internet), shoes, clothes, and snacks can be purchased at a store inside of the jail called commissary. In order for inmates to purchase these items, they must have funds in their account.

If you wish to add money to an inmate’s commissary account, you can do this by contacting Commissary at 610-631-1893. You can also go into the Sheriff’s office lobby between 7am to 11pm to add money as well. Or, you can send money online through Access Corrections.
