Clackamas County Jail is a county correctional facility in Oregon City. It is run and managed by the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Department. The sheriff’s office works hand in hand with other law enforcers in the county, such as the police division and the US Marshals. The facility’s main agenda is to rehabilitate offenders to be better members of society and hold up for lawbreakers bore they are presented in court. This facility can house up to 434 inmates at a given time.

The inmates held at this facility are housed for less than two years. Most are released shortly after their arrests after posting bail, while others are transferred to other facilities when sentenced for more than two years. The inmates vary from hard-crime to simple misdemeanor offenders arrested from surrounding towns, municipalities, and Clackamas County by the Sheriff’s Department, the Marshal’s Service, and the Oregon Police Department.

The Clackamas County Jail Telephone Policy

This facility allows telephone privileges to its inmates in a bid to help them remain in touch with their loved ones. Good communication with friends and family later comes in handy to help them transition well back into the community when they are finally released. Consequently, the facility has installed phones at designated positions in all the housing units to be used by inmates at approved times. However, those in the disciplinary block are denied call privileges.

Here are some policies governing phone usage in this facility:

  • All calls are monitored and recorded to prevent violations of laws and inmate rules and also to counter attempts to smuggle in contrabands.
  • Inmates can call collect anybody on their list of approved contacts as long as the recipient will incur the call costs.
  • Only outgoing calls from inmates are allowed.
  • The calls last for about 15 minutes, after which they are instantly disconnected.
  • Inmates have to set up a call account with Telmate, the sole call services provider at this facility. You can contact the entity at 866-516-0115 for any inquiries about inmate calls. Their customer service representatives are readily available 24/7.
  • You can deposit inmate calls funds through Telmate’s website.

Inmate Voicemail

Although you cannot call an inmate at this facility, you can, however, leave a voicemail message. The costs are similar to making a local phone call. To leave your message, you can engage Telmate at 866-516-0115. The operator on the other end will guide you accordingly.

Telephone Rules

Inmate call privilege comes with some rules that the inmates are expected to adhere to strictly. The rules are posted at the inmates’ cell blocks as well as on the inmate manual.

Some of the rules include the following:

  • The inmates should not damage the telephone equipment.
  • The calls are strictly 15 minutes and not more.
  • No use of profanities or yelling on the phone.
  • Intimidation, harassment, or issuing threats over the telephone is not allowed.
  • Inmates cannot call their victims or witnesses of the crimes they were incarcerated for.
  • Call recordings may be used as evidence in inmate disciplinary hearings or court proceedings.

Violation of these rules can lead to denial of call privileges or even disciplinary actions.

Blocking Inmate Calls

If you no longer want to receive inmate calls from an offender held at this facility, you can request to have your number blocked from receiving calls from the inmate telephone system. To block your number, engage 503-722-6221. On weekdays, it takes around 24 hours to block a number.
