Pickaway County Jail is a medium-security county detention center situated in Circleville, Ohio. It is a county facility operated and run by the sheriff’s department. It accommodates offenders from the US Marshal’s Service, surrounding towns, municipalities, and the sheriff’s department. The sheriff has a team of five dispatchers, seven deputies, two financial clerks, and an administrator. There are also two highly-trained supervisors.
Most inmates at this facility are waiting for trials, while those already serving have been sentenced for less than two years. When offenders are sentenced for more than two years, they are transferred to other state and federal jails and prisons. Others are released on bail, and those charged with minor misdemeanors are released on their own recognizance with a written agreement to show up in court on agreed dates.
This facility offers a work-release program so that inmates are released to work on community-based projects. They might even earn some time off their sentences based on the work done on community service. If an inmate knows they stand no chance to get released by the court, they should apply early enough for the work program since it could take time to get accepted.

This division’s dispatchers are highly-trained as public safety telecommunication specialists, fire service dispatchers, and emergency medical dispatchers.

Bail and Bondsman
Inmates awaiting trials at Pickaway can post bails to get released pending their court hearings or sentences. The bond comes in handy to ensure the offender fulfills their court appearance obligations. This means that the inmate will receive back the bail amount minus the court fees after the trial. However, if the offender does not fall in line with the expected obligations, the bail may be forfeited.
If an inmate cannot raise the bail amount, they can engage the services of a bondsman. The bondsman pays the entire bail amount on their behalf but takes 10% of the bail amount as service fees. This means if the bail is set as $50000, the bondman bags $5000.
