The Stutsman County Correctional Center is a Grade One facility located in Jamestown, North Dakota. It currently has a capacity of 92 inmates and is regulated by the North Dakota Correctional Facility Standards and North Dakota Century Code. To ensure compliance with all regulations and rules, it is inspected every year by the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

This facility houses sentenced and non-sentenced adults, both men, and women, from Stutsman County and surrounding communities. The Stutsman County Correctional Center also has a boarding contract that allows them to house federal inmates.

The operations of this correctional center are run by the Governing Authority Board. This board includes two City Council members, two County Commissioners, and one citizen. The administration staff includes an administrator, deputy administrator, Lieutenant, Sergeant, 24/7 coordinator, administrative officer, and mail and property officer.

The Stutsman County Correctional Center’s mission is to protect the public, staff, and inmates. They provide a safe and humane correctional facility through efficient faculty, supervision, and various programs.

Different Programs Offered

The Stutsman County Correctional Center offers a variety of programs to help rehabilitate inmates in the most effective and humane way possible. The four programs include the 24/7 Sobriety Program, CTR Program, EHM Program, and Work Release Program.

The 24/7 Sobriety Program is a part of the parole and probation conditions for individuals arrested for two or more DUIs. Arrestees related to domestic abuse or neglect may also be required to participate in this program. The program requires the arrestee to be sober 24/7 and take an alcohol test twice a day.

Next, the Stutsman County Correctional Center offers the Cooperative Treatment Release Program or the CTR program. This program is a collaborative effort to provide treatment for addicts. This program is considered a privilege within the Correctional Facility.

The EHM or Electric Home Monitoring program is a community-based alternative to incarceration for low-risk offenders. These offenders will be monitored continuously while they remain at their place of residence. There are a variety of requirements that must be met for an offender to qualify for the EHM program.

Finally, the last program offered by the Stutsman County Correctional Center is the Work Release Program. This program allows for inmates to remain employed and provide for their families. There are strict requirements for this work-release program, and it is viewed as a privilege.
