Since the first jail in Todd County opened in 1900, the facility has undergone many upgrades. The current detention center was at first designed for up to 24 inmates, but the Todd County Jail now houses up to 52 inmates at a time. These individuals are a mix of both sentenced prisoners and those awaiting sentencing from a judge. Inmates are looked after by both the Jail Programmer and the eight correctional officers who work there. These officials ensure the safety and security of inmates through a series of surveillance actions and protections.

The Todd County Jail has both physical checks of inmates and video surveillance to prevent any problems. The doors of the jail are constantly supervised, and are controlled in dual locations in the jail. The facility has 52 beds. There are both single and double cells located within the jail. Other rooms of note within the Todd County Jail include the interview room, the office, a room to check the breath of DUI arrests, and a room for booking inmates. Inmates receive proper care here, and are served three meals a day. The Todd County Jail is overseen by the Todd County Sheriff, Steve Och.
