Securus Technologies is the company used to help you communicate with an inmate in the system. When you use this system, you get really easy options to help you get in touch with someone who is incarcerated.

You will need to open a prepaid AdvanceConnect™ account, so that you can start getting phone calls from your incarcerated person.

You can also save time and energy by setting up a video chat with an inmate. You can also do this through Securus Technologies.

How to Visit an Inmate

If you want to visit an inmate in the Massachusetts Department of Correction, you can do so, but you do have to follow proper protocol.

MDOC understands the need for prisoners to have regular visits with inmates. Before you visit with an inmate you must:

  • Must be on the preapproved visitor list
  • Follow proper dress code
  • Have a proper photo ID

When it comes to visiting, state prisons are very strict because they have to keep prisoners and visitors safe, along with staff members. Be courteous when you go to visit as they have to work hard to keep everyone involved as safe as possible.

Find an Inmate with Vinelink

Looking for an inmate? You can find an inmate with the help of Vinelink. This system makes it easy to find an inmate.

After you do an inmate search, you can start communicating with them.

You should take note that only Essex County and Massachusetts Department of Correction use the program.

You will have to provide the inmate’s full names and ID number. Additionally, you can call VINELINK at 866-277-7477 to inquire about an inmate in Massachusetts.

All the local jails in the state of Massachusetts have their own inmate records. To get specific information, you should visit the specific website to a facility to do a ma inmates search. It may be a section of the sheriff’s office, county, city, and police department website.

Massachusetts Inmate Locator

The Massachusetts Department of Correction is responsible for the management and operations of all the state prisons in Massachusetts. To locate an inmate, follow the following steps.

Step 1

Visit the Massachusetts DOC page and navigate through to find the inmates section.

Step 2

There is a drop-down box that will help you select Massachusetts as the state of choice to assist you with the inmate search. There is an offender’s icon that you have to click on.

Step 3

For the mass offender lookup, enter the MADOC number and you will get the inmate’s information. You need the inmate’s names and offender ID. If you open the advance search, you will get additional search filters, and narrow results by the facility, age, sex, and race.

Step 4

The results that will pop up on the Massachusetts inmate locator screen will show all inmates that match the information you entered. The results will show the custody status, name, and the prison’s location. By clicking on more info, you will get an offender's ID, gender, and date of birth.
