Kootenai County Jail, ID is a medium to maximum-security correctional facility in Coeur d’Alene, Kootenai County, Idaho. It is operated by the Kootenai County Sherriff’s office under the stewardship of Sheriff Robert Bob Norris, who began his term this year on January 2021. The facility boasts of about 8000 bookings per year with an average of about 400 offenders and approximately 100 staff members.
Inmates held at this facility are temporarily held for violent crimes like rape, murder and robbery, or low-level misdemeanors. Those held for level crimes have been sentenced for not more than one year, while those housed for hard crimes are awaiting trials in the justice system.
