How to Search for an Inmate
The Delaware Department of Corrections encourages those searching for an inmate to use an online service called VINELink. This service allows you to obtain timely and reliable information about an inmate as well as the custody status, 24-hours per day.
Once on the VINELink homepage, you can log in, choose to create an account, or continue as a guest. However, to get a more accurate search, you will need to create an account.
Once you create an account, you will be prompted through questions to determine what you need from VINELink. Go through the prompts to find inmate information.
How to Talk to an Inmate
If you wish to talk to an inmate via phone, you can contact GTL at 1-866-230-7761, or online to start a prepaid phone account for the offender to call you. Depending on the facility, you can keep in contact with your inmate through calls, videos, and messages.
If you choose to visit an inmate, you will need to follow different rules and procedures for each facility. You can find this information here! All visits must be scheduled in advance for the following week. You will need to call the facility where the inmate is located to schedule a visit.
Send Money to an Inmate
If you need to get money to an inmate, you will have to follow a few guidelines. These guidelines include the following:
- Personal checks are not accepted.
- Money orders can be mailed in or dropped off during scheduled visits.
- All money orders must include the offender's full name, their SBI number, the assigned institution, and the name of the remitter.
- Money will be credited to the inmates account within 24 hours of receipt.
Keep in mind that the rules and procedures set in place for searching for an inmate, talking, visiting, and sending money are to keep everyone safe including workers, visitors, and inmates. It is important to follow the rules and regulations at all times.
