What to Bring

When visiting an inmate at Pima County Jail, you must bring a valid government-issued ID with you to confirm your identity.

You must secure your personal belongings in a locker before your visit. This has no charge. Prohibited items include (but are not limited to): pens, pencils, food, liquids, makeup, glass, caustic substances, or uninspected medication.

Online Visits

Remote visits are less restricted than on-site visitation, but still require strict adherence to the rules, or your visit will be cut short.

How long are Visits?

Each prisoner is allowed 1 thirty-minute visit per week for free. Additional 30-minute sessions are purchased for $9.00 each per day.

Online visits are $7.50 for 25 minutes or $16.50 for 55 minutes and are available as the schedule allows.

Visits are not allowed for inmates that are on disciplinary lockdown. Visits will be ended abruptly if any prohibited behavior or items are present. All visitors must also abide by the dress code:

  • No revealing clothing (this include form-fitting clothing that accentuates the body)
  • No sleeveless shirts
  • No legwear that is shorter than mid-thigh
  • No low-cut necklines, spaghetti straps, tank or tube tops
  • No explicit graphics or gang signs
  • No hats, caps, bandannas, or stocking caps

Follow these rules and you have a much higher chance of being allowed to visit. Keep in mind that there are certain situations, such as an unforeseen lockdown, that will cancel visitations.

Property of Inmates

You are allowed to retrieve an inmate’s property or exchange clothing under certain restrictions. All releases and exchanges of inmate property occur at the Property Release/Exchange window inside of the Main Jail Complex. Each transaction requires a valid government-issued ID.

The Property Release/Exchange service operates between the hours of 10:00am to 7:00pm on weekdays, and 10:00am to 1:00pm on Sundays. If you have any questions, call their helpline at (520) 351-8112.

For a property transaction to occur, all parties involved must follow proper protocol. This begins with the inmate in question filling out an Inmate Property Transaction form and filling in the name of the person who will receive the property in question. No other individuals will have the inmate’s property released to them. Remember your identification to verify your identity.

Clothing

Inmates are required to store a complete set of clothing in Inmate Property. This can be increased to three full sets of clothing if the inmate has an active case with the Superior Court. Clothing items of the same type can be exchanged for each other (1 shirt for 1 shirt, etc).

If the property has not been picked up within 30 days of the inmate’s transfer, the property will be disposed of.
