The mission of Maricopa County Jail is to keep the community safe by providing a safe, secure place for offenders. They also seek to rehabilitate prisons by offering them rights, privileges, and resources.

How to Search for an Inmate

To search for an inmate, you can visit the Maricopa County Sheriff website. Type in the first and last name of the offender you are looking for. There is an orange bar at the top of the page where you can do this.

You can also call (602) 876-1801 to get general prisoner information such as whether a prisoner is at the facility or not.

After you have completed your search, you will want to write down pertinent information such as the offender’s date of birth, arrest date, booking number, and any other information you think you may need.

This information will help you to be able to send mail, speak to an inmate, and visit. Information on the website is updated twice per hour.

Staying in Contact with an Inmate

Research has shown that inmate’s who have positive friends and relatives who stay in contact with them have a greater chance of rehabilitation.

Because those who have a positive support system can be rehabilitated more easily, the Maricopa County Jail encourages friends and family to stay in contact. You can do this in the following ways:
